About Historic Waterfront Living

The Lake Erie waterfront is a wonderful place to work, live, and play. However, it wasn’t always like that.

Lake Erie and the rivers that feed it, such as the Cuyahoga River, have a part of their history that is bittersweet. The water provided essential resources for the industrial revolution, leading to the building of factories, and the growth of cities like Cleveland. But those same factories in that time of rapid growth polluted the water to the extent that the Cuyahoga River actually burned, at least 13 times.

The Cuyahoga River, and many other rivers, are in an ongoing state of cleaning to reclaim the clean water and wetlands. Similarly, those historic buildings are being restored for use as residential, new commercial, restaurants, and shopping.

Just as care must be taken to clean the river, the buildings and the historical context are fragile, and must be maintained. They also need to be brought up to modern codes to ensure that they are safe to inhabit.

This is what we care about. The buildings. The safety. The amazing waterfront. We hope that you will join us on this journey.
